On the night of 29 November, UIC teachers and students spent the night enjoying the works of Shakespeare, performed by UIC students. The drama performance was sponsored by the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences (DHSS). English Language and Literature Studies (ELLS) students performed highlights from Shakespeare's classic plays, "Romeo and Juliet," "Hamlet" as well as some sonnets. Most of the actors were freshmen. This event to celebrate the new campus inauguration was the first show in the new campus’s Performance Theatre.

As the MC of the show, Teaching Assistant, Lily Liu, felt that the newly-completed auditorium provided strong technical support for this performance. From the music, lighting, background and stage layout, the auditorium's modern technology greatly enhance the performance of the show. She looks forward to seeing more exciting performances in the auditorium in the future.

A Year Two ELLS student, Cai Yuyan, said that the new Performance Theatre enhanced the audience's experience and helped them to enter Shakespeare's world.
